A minibar, breakfast in bed, 24h room service… The hotels of today have turned every caprice into a ‘included necessity’. Not long ago shampoo bottles in the rooms were a luxury.

Is situated in San Diego, was the first hotel in the world to decorate a Christmas tree outside, and to decorate it with electrical candles. At the beginning of the 20th century candles has the greatest widespread use, and electrical lights were a true rarity.

History of Hotels and Choose Hotels

Up until 1910, every hotel in the world – no matter how luxurious and expensive – had shared bathrooms. In 1910, the Goring hotel was opened in London, being the first in the history to offer its guests ‘room with a bathroom’. The Boston Park Plaza Hotel, opened in 1927, was the first one to put a radio in every room. New York’s Waldorf Astoria is famous for its Art Deco motifs, salads and celebrity guests.

In the history of the hotel management this hotels was the first one to introduce room service. The first minibars appeared in 1974 in Hong Kong’s Hilton. Adolphus in Dallas bears the title ‘the coolest hotel’ being the first one to introduce central air conditioning in the 50s of the 20th century. Complimentary soaps and shampoos are the innovation of London’s Four Seasons.  Who knows what the next great thing will be?
