3. For over a century Albert Cuyp market has been attracting thousands of visitors with its colorful stands. Today, this is one of the most visited markets in Europe, and this is the perfect place to buy all the gifts and trinkets for your family and friends.

Our Lord in the Attic

4.  Nearby one of the canals in the center of the city, an elegant but modest building offers its visitors stories about Amsterdam from the times of greater repression. In the attic of this house lays hidden an ‘illegal’ Catholic chapel from the 17th century. When Catholicism was banned in the Netherlands in the 16th century, this attic served as a place where secret masses were held. Despite the modesty of the building, the chapel is surprisingly lavish, with marble columns and impressive paintings.

Many works from the Golden Age period in the 17th century are a part of the museum collection, including Rembrandt’s The Night Watch.
